Corporal Koca Seyit carrying a 240 mm. shell. This picture certainly was not taken on March 18, 1915, as most of Turkish historians claim. Man can clearly see a perfect order in the surroundings and the presence of other three people, while it is believed that only private Ali was helping to Seyit It seems that this picture was actually taken a few days after the battle and not in Rumeli Mecidiye but in Rumeli Hamidiye fort. If so, the cannon on the photograph is not 240/35 but 355/35 what explains the wrong information about the shell’s weight.(Harb Mecmuasi).
